Forum Rules
Unlike many forums on the internet, our forum is not a free-for-all. We have a small, friendly and supportive community. Our goal is for members to be able to visit and post and feel safe… to not have to worry about coming under attack or ridicule.
Like any board on the ‘net, we have had our share of trolls and trouble-makers register and then create trouble. Such behavior is not tolerated and these users are permanently banned without warning. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then this doesn’t apply to you. Those this applies to know who they are, and they know that we’re watching.)
With that in mind, here are our forum rules:
1. Be nice. Be supportive.
2. Do not attack other members personally (e.g., comment on their character, personality traits, physical appearance, etc.). Negative comments about other members will be removed, and the posting privileges of the person who made the negative statements will be suspended for an undetermined length of time. (See Rule #1)
3. Do not attack SellerSource board members on other boards. As people we do not live in a vacuum. The same goes for the internet. A person’s actions on another board are just as accountable and viable as they are on this board. If you collect information here and then attack that person somewhere else, do not expect your account here to remain active. (See Rule #1)
4. Vendors: while it is your right to run your business how you see fit, we do not tolerate retribution against customers for comments they make on this board or other boards. If we learn that a member here has been subject to negative circumstances as a result of what they have posted here about your company, your membership here will be terminated. This site is a safe harbor where we expect retailers can share freely and without fear of retribution. Keep your nose clean and do right by your customers, and this won’t even be an issue.
5. Advertising: No unsolicited advertising is allowed in forum posts, via e-mail or via PMs.
(a) “Unsolicited” is defined as when that particular exchange has not been initiated via the prospective buyer. This means that even if a member has contacted you about your products in the past, you may not initiate a new contact about your products now. When a prospect contacts you for more information, it is only for information at that time. It is not permission to make follow-up contacts in the future — at least not through the board.
(b) In regard to forum posts, if a member asks about a vendor’s product in a forum post, the vendor may answer the question about their product or company in that thread. Please limit responses to the scope of the information being asked. Do not post additional unrequested information. Sales pitches belong in the Advertising section.
(c) If a member asks for product recommendations in a general product category (“what candle lines do you recommend?”) a vendor may NOT promote their product. A sales rep MAY list their best-performing, best-quality or best-suited product IF they carry more than one line in the category. Sales reps must include a disclaimer that this is a line that they represent.
(d) Blatant advertising, promotions, etc. may be posted by vendors and sales reps at any time in the Advertising section. There is a limit of 5 threads per week.
(e) Banner and text link advertising is available for purchase — at reasonable rates!! Please contact us for rates and stats.
6. Registration: Please provide accurate information about yourself and your business. You are welcome to choose whatever username you want, but your business information (name and town) must be verifiable via public records. Make sure that your ISP matches the geographic area of your business…… if you are connecting from Phoenix but you list a shop name in New Jersey, we consider that grounds to not approve your account. If you are starting out in business, or if you are an independent rep, that’s okay, you are still welcome here. Please drop us a line explaining your situation so we can find something verifiable.
7. No duplicate accounts. Absolutely no exceptions.
